To promote ecological agriculture, entrepreneurship, and community-based livelihood solutions through capacity building, technical training, and institutional linkages with government, private, and civil society partners.
To build resilient rural communities by ensuring food security, sustainable income, and empowerment for tribal and smallholder women farmers.
Lalmani Singh, a determined tribal woman from a Rangamatia village in Samakhunta Block Mayurbhanj. Once dependent on subsistence farming, she struggled to earn a steady income. Her life changed after joining a livelihood training programme by Hands For Help, where she learned paddy straw mushroom and Oyster mushroom cultivation—covering scientific production, hygiene practices, basic accounting, and market exposure.
With continuous handholding, input and marketing support from the organisation, Lalmani was linked to local buyers and weekly markets, helping her secure fair prices for her produce.
Today, with a small backyard setup, she earns up to ₹30,000 per month during peak season.
Lalmani’s journey from hardship to entrepreneurship has strengthened her family’s livelihood, enabling her to support her children’s education and provide nutritious food, while earning respect as a confident and self-reliant woman farmer in her community.
